[source: missing citation] Before the company went out of business in 1997, some of his earlier work as a game designer was published by Chaosium as part of their Nephilim role-playing game.

93 Hite came to Last Unicorn Games after working as a freelancer and immediately joined the team of developers working on the “Icon system” for their line of licensed Star Trek role-playing games. In order to have Star Trek: The Next Generation Role-playing Game ready in time for GenCon 31, Hite was flown out to Los Angeles for two weeks. After the development of Icon was finished, Hite was given the position of line developer for the role-playing game based on Star Trek: The Original Series. Hite eventually resigned from his position and joined the team at Steve Jackson Games, where he was responsible for writing the Generic Universal RolePlaying System supplement titled GURPS WWII: Weird War II.  In subsequent years, he contributed to the development of the fourth edition of RuneQuest. Additionally, he worked on some sourcebooks for Unknown Armies, as well as the second version of the game. He contributed to Pyramid magazine’s “Suppressed Transmission” feature with his writing. Suppressed Transmission: The First Broadcast and Suppressed Transmission 2: The Second Broadcast are two collections of the column that have been published. Additionally, he was the author of the “Out of the Box” column, which was initially published in the GamingReport and was later published in the IndiePressRevolution.

In 2004, he also provided Dork Tower with a guest comic strip that he had drawn. Hite was one of the many people who contributed to the publication Gamemastering Secrets, which was honored with the Origins Award for Best Game Aid or Accessory in the year 2002. In 2008, Atomic Overmind Press published a few Cthulhu books that Hite worked on, and he wrote Where the Deep Ones Are (2008), The Antarctic Express (2009), “Clifford the Big Red God” (2011), and “Goodnight Azathoth” (2015) in the Mini Mythos series for Atlas Games as parodies of children’s books featuring the Cthulhu mythos.  and “Good  260 In the anthology titled Cthulhurotica, which was released by Dagan Books in December of 2010, his piece titled “Cthulhu’s Polymorphous Perversity” can be found.  Ronin Arts have distributed a collection of Lovecraftian-themed game PDFs that were prepared by Hite.

Hite’s Trail of Cthulhu was a role-playing game that was released in February 2008 by Pelgrane Press. This game was based on the GUMSHOE System, which was designed by Robin Laws. Hite’s contributions to Trail of Cthulhu earned him two silver ENnies in 2008, one for Best Writing and the other for Best Rules (shared with Robin Laws).  Since then, Hite has included the products Shadows Over Filmland, Rough Magicks, Bookhounds of London, and Mythos Expeditions in the Trail of Cthulhu series of products. The year 2012 saw the introduction of Hite’s second GUMSHOE System game, titled Night’s Black Agents. In this game, players assume the role of burned spies operating in the underground of contemporary Europe who is abruptly made aware of the presence of vampires.

Later in the same year, he became a full-time member of the Pelgrane Press staff[8] and began publishing a series of monthly books of gaming material under the title Ken Writes About Stuff. The series came to an end in 2016 after three “volumes” had been published. The volumes in this series explored a variety of role-playing gaming topics, such as historical magic systems, campaign settings, and extra GUMSHOE rule expansions. The Hideous Creatures series focused on the creatures that appeared in the fiction and mythos of H. P. Lovecraft.

In 2015, he and Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan released a collaborative improvised campaign for Night’s Black Agents called The Dracula Dossier. This campaign puts up the theory that Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, which was published in 1897, was in fact the after-action report of a British Intelligence operation to recruit a vampire. The novel’s earliest manuscript, which has been annotated by three generations of MI6 agents, is included in the published book. This draught has not been redacted. Following that, Hite penned the Fall of Delta Green Roleplaying Game (RPG) for Pelgrane as a contribution to the Delta Green Kickstarter.

Hite has worked with Dennis Detwiller, Greg Stolze, and Shane Ivey on the second edition of the Wild Talents Roleplaying Game (RPG), as well as the supplement Grim War. This is in addition to the work that Hite has done for Pelgrane. He penned the genre-bending post-apocalyptic scenario Day after Ragnarok, which was released by Atomic Overmind Press. Additionally, he worked alongside Emily Care Boss and Lisa J. Steele on the project Bubblegumshoe, which was produced by Evil Hat Productions. In addition to that, he was responsible for the creation and design of the most recent iteration of the Vampire Roleplaying Game. Hite and his wife, Sheila, make their home in Chicago.
