Sullivan’s justifications were frequently more baffling than his actual behavior. Truth be told, he began his career in the NWA in 1970 as a generic grappler in the minor areas. After rising to prominence in Florida’s Championship Wrestling as the “Boston Battler” in the early 1980s, Sullivan took a dark turn.
Sullivan rose to prominence as pro wrestling’s “Prince of Darkness” at a period when heavy metal acts like Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest were frightening suburban parents with allusions to devil worship and ancient mysticism. The Beantown brawler allied himself with a twisted group of misfits, including Maha Singh from the streets of Calcutta, the sage-like snake handler known as The Abudadein, and Purple Haze, who literally walked out of the ocean, and became an ominous foe to Florida heroes like Dusty Rhodes and Blackjack Mulligan.
A lot has happened in the previous six years for Kevin Sullivan, who went from being a forensic crime scene investigator for the police to a successful country music artist. Kevin’s singing children, The Sulli-Vans, just made an appearance on The Voice: Generations, a show on Channel 7.

Sullivan followed the evil one everywhere he went, from his days as the sadistic head of The Army of Darkness in Championship Wrestling from Florida to his strange campaign to bring down Hulkamania in WCW.
Kevin and The Sulli-Vans continue to win over Australian audiences with their live performances. In April, they will appear at the Man from Snowy River Festival (Victoria), as well as the Back O’ Bourke Easter Festival, the Tamworth Country Music Festival, and the Big Country Festival.
Kevin’s voice, depth of feeling, anecdotes, and storytelling style captivate listeners from the first note. Kevin draws inspiration from artists like Paul Kelly, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, and Leonard Cohen, yet his work has a voice and style all his own.
The Sunland Off Road Caravans family van, affectionately dubbed the “Sulli-Van,” was developed and manufactured in November 2020 as part of a sponsorship deal between the company and Kevin Sullivan. From casinos and bars to roadhouses and caravan sites to home concerts, Kevin Sullivan enthralled crowds everywhere he played. The family band has performed everywhere from Cape York to the Kimberleys, and at prestigious events like the Man From Snowy River Bush Festival in Corryong, Victoria, and the Drovers Camp Festival in Camooweal, Mt. Isa, Queensland, as well as the Nambung Country Music Festival, where they received a standing ovation from 2,000 festivalgoers.
Kevin has shared the stage with many well-known names in Australian country music, including Lee Kernaghan, Bill Chambers, Amber Lawrence, Travis Collins, The McClymonts, and The Wolfe Brothers, and has performed at numerous festivals across Australia and the United States, including the Tamworth Country Music Festival, the Birdsville Races, The Gympie Music Muster, the Big Country Festival in Berry, New South Wales, the Mildura Country Music Festival, and the Ballina and Mildura Country Music Festivals.
Kevin Sullivan is a walking, talking example of the adage, “It’s never too late to chase your dream,” from the release of his debut album, “Belonging,” in 2018, to “The Sulli-Vans,” a covers album featuring the harmonious voices of the Sulli-Van kids.
Even though Kevin is a relative newcomer to the Australian country music scene, he clearly sees his future here in 2023. In addition to resuming The Sulli-Van Tour in the new year, he will also continue working on his second original album, ‘Three Ways’ (recorded in both Nashville and Australia due out in 2023), following the release in 2022 of “The Sulli-Vans” album.
