Phil Alexander Robertson (born April 24, 1946) is an American professional hunter, businessman (Duck Commander), and reality television personality on the show Duck Dynasty. He also appears on the Outdoor Channel’s hunting show Duck Commander. He was a member of the football team at Louisiana Tech University. He has a master’s degree in education and has worked as a teacher for a number of years.

After a 2013 interview with GQ magazine in which he stated that homosexual activity is wicked, Robertson became the topic of criticism. As a result, Duck Dynasty was cancelled by A&E. ” You see what I’m saying? We’ll let God sort it out afterwards.In reaction to the backlash, A&E issued a statement from Robertson, saying, “I would never treat somebody with disrespect just because they are different from me.” His suspension was revealed by the network later that day.

After a tremendous outcry from fans, including a 1.5 million-like Facebook page and remarks from politicians protesting the decision, A&E lifted the suspension before any episodes were impacted. Robertson was an all-state athlete in high school, earning a football scholarship to Louisiana Tech in Ruston in the late 1960s.

He was the Bulldogs’ starting quarterback at Tech, ahead of Pro Football Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw, the first overall pick in the 1970 NFL Draft. Bradshaw, a football sensation from neighbouring Shreveport, generated a media frenzy when he arrived to Tech in 1966.

A year before Bradshaw, Robertson was the starter for two seasons in 1966 and 1967 before opting out of the 1968 season. Robertson completed 179 of 411 passes for 2,237 yards during his career at Louisiana Tech. He had 12 touchdowns and 34 interceptions in his career.Robertson was regarded to have pro talent, but he preferred to hunt.
