BIOGRAPHY:

Rob Nelson began his professional life working in the field of marine science. At the University of Miami, he completed his undergraduate studies and received a degree in Marine Science. In 1999, he attended James Cook University in Australia for a full academic year. It was there that he became acquainted with fellow producer and co-host Jonas Stenstrom. Later on, he went on to earn his master’s degree from the University of Hawaii, where he focused his research on the population and behavioral ecology of the Hawaiian Shrimp Goby, as well as how these fish interact with predators such as hammerhead sharks.

During his time in Hawaii, Rob focused his time on conducting research and documenting his findings, as well as those of his colleagues, in film. Since he enjoyed both science and filmmaking, he made the decision to combine his two interests into a single career path and applied to and was accepted into the Science and Natural History Filmmaking Program at Montana State University to pursue a master’s degree in Science Filmmaking.

Rob is not only a biologist, but he is also a science communicator who has won an Emmy award and who is currently serving as the director of the non-profit organization known as Untamed Science. He is the primary creative director and producer for the video content that is developed by the company’s operations in the United States branch.
