Fantasia Monique Barrino is an American R&B singer, composer, and actor who is known for her work in the music industry. Diane and Joseph Barrino welcomed Fantasia into the world on June 30, 1984, in High Point, North Carolina, United States. She was born into a family with a strong musical background. Her uncles were members of the R&B group ‘The Barrino Brothers,’ which was active in the 1970s.
She was affected by this feature in her family and began singing at the age of 5 as a result. Fantasia rose to prominence after winning the fourth season of NBC’s “American Idol” in 2004. She made history by becoming the youngest ever ‘American Idol’ at the age of 19 and being the first female to do so. Her performance of the song “Summertime” from the musical “Porgy and Bess” was widely acknowledged as one of the best on the show.
