Andreea Bănică was born in Constanta County on 21 June 1978, more specifically in Eforie Sud, Germany. She began singing from a very young age at the age of 4. At the age of 6, Adrian Paunescu acknowledged her talent. He recommended that she take music instruction at the Constanta Students Club.
Not too long afterward, she still participated in the Cantarea Romaniei event when she was 6 years old, where she won first prize, she was able to trick organizers to allow her to compete, while the age limit was 8. The next year, she had the same success at the same famous contest.
Thus tiny Andreea’s triumphs had already prepared her for what was going to happen – the beginning of a successful musical career. But the music never prevented her from studying. She knew that she could never succeed in a profession in music without adequate instruction.
She took 2 years of piano lessons and 4 years of singing training. Andreea Banica always wanted to do more thus she took part in numerous music festivals, but when she made a stage at the Mamaia Festival, her audience welcomed her.
BIOGRAPHY:
Andreea altered her life there as she entered the show industry. She then joined the first Romanian girl band, Exotic, following the lines of Iulia Chelaru and Claudia Patrascanu. The first song from Exotic, “Sexy,” was an enormous success. 4 singles (“Uita-ma,” “Sexy,” “Vreau un sarut,” and “Un sarut”) from 2 albums, “Sexxy” and “Pasional,” were released by the band.
The exotic girls had been together 2 years before they split. In 2000 Andreea Banica joined Cristina Rus in a good partnership and the two of them began a new Blondy group. The girls published three albums in the next 4 years (“Atat de aproape”, “O parte din tine”, “Dulce si amar”). Other band achievements: 6 music videos and the BEST DANCE BAND award for 2003 Radio Romania Actualitati Awards.
Cristina Rus departed the band in 2004 while Andreea Banica continued her solo career. Her first single, “Dansez , Dansez” was a triumph, co-written with Laurentiu Duta. The eponymous album earned the Cat Music Golden Disk Award. 2 more singles were released from the same first album: “Indragostiti” and “Dulce si Amar.”
