Alison has 27 Grammy Awards to her credit as of February 2012. She holds the record for the most Grammy nominations of any single female performer in any genre of music. She is now tied for second place with Quincy Jones in terms of the number of Grammys she has received.

She debuted as a solo artist in 1987, with the release of her first album. In 1989, Union Station released her first album. In 1985, he became a member of Rounder Records. At the age of five, she began learning classical violin, but quickly switched to bluegrass.

In 1991, she won her first Grammy. In 1993, she became a member of the Grand Ole Opry.In 2007, he collaborated with Robert Plant on an album called Raising Sand. In 2009, it was awarded five Grammys. Krauss’ mother saw an ad for a fiddle competition at the Champaign County Fair in mid-1979 and decided to buy a bluegrass fiddle teaching book as well as violinist Richard Greene’s 1977 bluegrass record Duets.

Krauss learnt numerous songs from the album by ear, including “Tennessee Waltz,” which she practised on violin with her mother on guitar. At the age of eight, Krauss entered the talent show and placed fourth in the novice category.

Following this, Krauss became more interested in the bluegrass genre, and she acquired a talent for memorising difficult riffs by ear and quickly adapting them to her own style.  Krauss fiddled and sang for Marvin Lee Flessner’s country dance band in 1981–82.

Her parents purchased her her first adult-sized instrument in September 1983, a handmade violin crafted by hand in Missouri. She won the Walnut Valley Festival Fiddle Championship at the age of 13, and she was dubbed the “Most Promising Fiddler in the Midwest” by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass in America.

Vanity Fair magazine also referred to her as “virtuoso.” Dan Tyminski was introduced to Krauss by the Society at a festival in 1984. At these festivals, she met every current member of her band, Union Station. In 2000, Krauss received vocal credit for “Buy Me a Rose,” which became her lone number one hit.

She has contributed to a number of film soundtracks, including O Brother, Where Art Thou?, which she co-wrote (2000). “I’ll Fly Away” (with Gillian Welch), “Down to the River to Pray,” and “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow” are just a few of the songs she and Dan Tyminski contributed.

George Clooney’s character uses Tyminski’s vocals on “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow” in the film. The album won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002 after selling over seven million copies.  Both Krauss and the surprisingly popular album have been credited with reigniting interest in bluegrass music.

She has, however, stated that she believes Americans already enjoyed bluegrass and other lesser-known musical genres, and that the film only provided simple access to the music. She declined to feature in the film since she was pregnant at the time of production, and she did so at her own decision.

Hollywood shoe designer Stuart Weitzman chose Krauss to wear a pair of $2 million ‘Cinderella’ sandals with 412 inch clear glass stiletto heels and two straps adorned with 565 Kwiat diamonds set in platinum at the 76th Academy Awards in February 2004, where she performed two nominated songs from the Cold Mountain soundtrack.

“When I initially heard, I was like, ‘What were they thinking?’ I have the worst feet of anyone who would be there that night!” Krauss stated, expressing his dissatisfaction with the decision. Weitzman also gifted Krauss with a Palm Tro 600 smartphone encrusted with 3,000 Swarovski gems in clear and topaz colours.

Krauss kept the crystal-covered phone when the shoes were returned. At the suggestion of his kids, who are lovers of Krauss’ music, Weitzman chose Krauss to show off his clothes.
