As a horror writer, Stine’s career began in 1986 with the publication of Blind Date, his first scary novel. Welcome to Dead House (1992) was the first in his Fear Street series of stories for young teens, and the Goosebumps series for ages 8 to 11 was the first in his Goosebumps television series (1995–1995). “A safe scare” was what he called the unpredictability of his horror writing, as well as the plot twists and suspenseful endings.
Both series were a huge hit from the get-go.With the success of Give Yourself Goosebumps (1995) and The Nightmare Room (2000), Stine launched several spin-off series. Fear Street Super Chillers (1991), Fear Street Seniors (1998), and Return to Fear Street were among the series he wrote (2018). As part of the Goosebumps Horrorland series, Stine brought back the haunted dummy, a classic Goosebumps character, in 2008’s Revenge of the Living Dummy.
It took another four years for Goosebumps Most Wanted to be released.There are two other notable Stine series: Point Horror (1986) and Rotten School (1991). (2005). Stine’s children’s books had sold more than 400 million copies by the second decade of the 21st century. His adult works include Superstitious (1995), Eye Candy (2004; television series 2015) and Red Rain (2012).Jack Black portrayed Stine in Goosebumps (2015) and Goosebumps 2 (2018), in which the author’s terrifying characters were brought to life through the medium of film.
