Nancy grace Biography/Wiki

BIOGRAPHY:

Nancy Grace, the youngest of three children, was born in Macon, Georgia. Her parents, Elizabeth Grace, who worked in a factory, and Mac Grace, who worked as a freight agent for Southern Railway, were parents.  Her brother Mac Jr. and her sister Ginny are the two of her older siblings.  Elizabeth Grace is an organist at Macon’s Liberty United Methodist Church, where her husband, Mac Sr., formerly served as a Sunday School teacher. The Graces have been members of the church for a very long time. Grace received her diploma from the Windsor Academy in Macon in the year 1977. She started her education at Valdosta State University and finished it with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mercer University. When Grace was in school, she was a big fan of the works of William Shakespeare, and she planned to get a job teaching English after she finished her education.  Grace made the decision to attend law school after the workplace shooting that took the life of her fiance, Keith Griffin, when she was 19 years old. She went on to become a felony prosecutor and an advocate for victims’ rights. Grace attended the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University, where she was a member of the school’s law review before going on to earn her Juris Doctor degree.

She continued her education at New York University and received a Master of Laws degree with a concentration in constitutional and criminal law.  She has contributed articles, opinion pieces, and other writing to several legal magazines, such as the American Bar Association Journal.  She practiced antitrust and consumer protection law at the Federal Trade Commission and worked as a clerk for a judge on a federal court. She was a professor at the Georgia State University College of Law, where she lectured on litigation, and at the Georgia State University School of Commercial, where she taught business law. Since the year 2006, she has been a member of the board of trustees at Mercer University, and she has also taken ownership of a portion of the road that is adjacent to the law school. Nearly a decade of Grace’s career was spent as a Special Prosecutor in the office of the District Attorney for Atlanta-Fulton County, Georgia. Her work primarily entailed investigating criminal cases involving many instances of the same crime, such as multiple homicides, multiple rapes, multiple assaults on children, and several fires. After learning that the District Attorney she had been working for would not be seeking reelection, she decided to leave the office where she had been employed as a prosecutor. In a case involving fire and murder that took place in 1997, Grace was censured by the Supreme Court of Georgia for incorrect remarks she made and for suppressing evidence during her time working as a prosecutor.

The court vacated the conviction in that instance because it determined that Grace’s actions were not appropriate and “exhibited a callous contempt for the concepts of due process and fair play, which is unacceptable behavior on her part. Following her departure from the office of the Fulton County prosecutors, Grace was approached by the inventor of Court TV, Steven Brill, who extended an invitation for her to co-host a legal commentary show with Johnnie Cochran, which she accepted. Grace was moved to a solo trial coverage show on Court TV when Cochran left the show; she hosted Trial Heat from 1996 to 2004, then Closing Arguments from 2004 to 2007, replacing Lisa Bloom and James Curtis, who were both hosting Trial Heat at that point. Grace hosted Trial Heat from 1996 until 2004, then Closing Arguments from 2004 until 2007. In addition to her show on Court TV, she began hosting a regular primetime legal analysis show called Nancy Grace on CNN Headline News (now HLN) in February of 2005.

Grace made the announcement that she will be departing Court TV on May 9, 2007, so that she could devote more time to her CNN Headline News program and her volunteer work.  The 19th of June, 2007 was the day of her final episode on Court TV. Grace has a unique approach to interviewing, which combines traditional voice questions with visual and multimedia data displays. Two Gracie Awards have been bestowed upon Nancy Grace by the Foundation of American Women in Radio and Television in recognition of the work done on her Court TV show. David Carr said in an article for the New York Times in 2011 that “since her show began in 2005, the presumption of innocence has found a deliberate opponent in the former prosecutor turned broadcast judge-and-jury in the former broadcast judge-and-jury.” Her treatment of the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart, the lacrosse case involving Duke University, the interview with Melinda Duckett and her suicide, and the Caylee Anthony case were all condemned by him.

Carr was informed by law professor Jonathan Turley of the George Washington University that Grace, in her dual roles as an attorney and reporter, “had succeeded, through her hysteria, raving persona, and sensational analysis, in bringing both professions into disrepute. There is a segment of the population that takes her seriously, and as a result, her show undermines respect for fundamental rights. Grace tied the knot with David Linch, an investment banker from Atlanta, in a low-key private ceremony in April of 2007. They were acquainted with one another in the 1970s while she was attending Mercer University. After the passing of her fiance, Grace decided that she could no longer see herself being married “Through all of these years, we have remained in contact, despite the fact that distance and time have often kept us apart. The choice to get married was made on the spot, in the heat of the moment. It wasn’t until two days before the wedding that I notified my family about it. On her talk show on HLN, Grace made an emotional announcement on June 26, 2007, that her life had “taken a U-turn” in the sense that she was pregnant with twins and expected to give birth in January 2008. The month of November 2007 saw the arrival of both Lucy Elizabeth and John David.
