Dana Jae Schwartz (born January 7, 1993) is a journalist, author, and screenwriter based in the United States. In addition to being a published author, she formerly worked as a correspondent for Entertainment Weekly. In total, she has authored four books. In addition to that, she is the creator of the historical podcast Noble Blood, which airs weekly on iHeartMedia and focuses on the shadowy side of monarchy.
Schwartz spent his childhood in Highland Park, Illinois, and his family was religiously observant throughout his upbringing. During his time at Brown University, Schwartz took both a public policy and a pre-medical course; however, he ultimately chose to pursue a career in writing. A Presidential Scholar, Schwartz served in that capacity. She got her start in the writing industry after completing internships on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “The Conan O’Brien Show.”
While Schwartz was still an undergraduate, he gained attention by establishing two parody Twitter profiles, one of which was @GuyInYourMFA. parodying pretentious and patronizing aspiring writers, @DystopianYA parodying young adult fiction such as the Hunger Games series set in a dystopian future, both of which became popular with readers. Schwartz’s writing and publishing career got its start thanks in large part to the success she had on Twitter. In 2016, Brooklyn Magazine ranked her as one of the one hundred people who have the most influence on the cultural landscape of Brooklyn.
BIOGRAPHY:
Schwartz wrote an open letter to her employer Jared Kushner while she was working as a writer at The New York Observer. In the letter, she criticized her employer’s father-in-law Donald Trump for posting content from anti-Semitic sources on his Twitter feed. Kushner responded to Schwartz’s letter by writing an open letter of his own.
Noble Blood is a podcast that was created by Schwartz, who also serves as the show’s host. The podcast focuses on tales from the lives of historical royals. The podcast started off at the top of the charts on iTunes for podcasts. Aaron Mahnke, the man responsible for creating Lore, was the producer of the series.
In the episode of The George Lucas Talk Show that aired on September 29, 2020, Schwartz appeared on the program alongside another guest, Bill Corbett.On the Marvel television series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law which is currently airing on Disney+, Schwartz served as a staff writer.
She collaborated with Rebekah McKendry to write Bring It On: Halloween in 2021, which is the seventh movie in the Bring It On franchise and is scheduled to air in 2022. Dana Schwartz is the author of four different books. And We’re Off, the title of her debut young adult novel was released to the public in May of 2017. It was selected as one of the best books of 2017 by Seventeen Magazine, and Vulture included it on their list of the 10 best young adult books published in 2017.
In June of 2018, Schwartz’s memoir with the title Choose Your Own Disaster was made available to the public. A book that was published in November 2019 and narrated by the character of the “GuyInYourMFA” Twitter account, with illustrations by New Yorker cartoonist Jason Adam Katzenstein, was also released that month. On January 18, 2021, Schwartz’s fourth book, titled Anatomy, A Love Story, was released to the public. It debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list as well as the list of books sold by independent publishers. Los Angeles serves as Schwartz’s primary location at the moment (when?). Her wedding to the American comedian Ian Karmel took place on September 4, 2022.
