Monét X Change Biography/Wiki

BIOGRAPHY:

She attended Rider University’s Westminster Choir College in order to receive training in opera performance. Monét X Change’s first victory in a drag competition came at the sixth annual Gay Caribbean USA Pageant on September 27, 2014, where she was competing as a representative of Saint Lucia. Her drag mother is Honey Davenport, making her a member of the Davenport drag family, and her drag sister is Bob the Drag Queen, the winner of the eighth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. This makes her a member of the Davenport drag family. On February 22, 2018, RuPaul’s Drag Race revealed that Monét X Change will be one of the fourteen contestants competing in the tenth season of the competition. She was eliminated in the tenth episode, finishing sixth overall in the competition. She became the first person ever to hold the title of Miss Congeniality after being voted for by all of the other contestants when she won the title during the finale of the season.

As part of the first episode of Drag Race, Monét X Change created a dress for the first runway challenge that was decorated with kitchen sponges. This dress became a running joke throughout the rest of the series and inspired a number of Internet memes among fans who follow the show online. Another competitor, Yuhua Hamasaki, made her very own dress out of sponges, sold them, and then gave the money she made to Callen-Lorde. Following the airing of the episode, a pin with a sponge motif was made available for purchase on her website. In one of their tweets, the official SpongeBob SquarePants Twitter account also mentioned Monét X Change. After having previously competed on the tenth season of Drag Race, Monét X Change will be performing in 2019. Alongside her drag sister Bob the Drag Queen, Monét X Change is one of the hosts of the podcast known as Sibling Rivalry. The debut of the first episode took place on March 11th, 2018. On June 6, 2018, Monét X Change responded to a threat made by rapper Azealia Banks to sue RuPaul for plagiarism over the song “Call Me Mother” by calling Banks out on Twitter. Banks had previously stated that she would take RuPaul to court over the song. After responding to Monét X Change’s tweet, Banks’ account was later deactivated for unknown reasons. On July 6, 2018, she participated as a guest on an episode of the television program What Would You Do?

In addition, Monét took her one-woman show “Call Me By Monét” on the road, performing it in various cities across the United States and Europe. Beginning in the month of November 2018, Monét X Change will serve as the host of the WOWPresents internet series titled “Monét’s Herstory X Change.” In February 2019, she was featured alongside Cardi B in an advertisement for Pepsi. On February 15, 2019, she and Trinity the Tuck were both inducted into RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars Hall of Fame. This honor was bestowed upon them both. In the annals of history, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame as the first black queen. As a result of her victory at All Stars, she and Trinity The Tuck were invited to appear as featured guests on the first episode of The Official RuPaul’s Drag Race Podcast. Monet announced in the month of May that she would be the host of her very own weekly talk show, which would be titled “The X Change Rate.” In June, she participated in an episode of “The View” in which she was interviewed alongside Nina West and Adore Delano.

Both Monét X Change and West made their way back to The View for the episode dedicated to Meghan McCain’s birthday. Bertin is a bass-voiced opera singer who has received extensive training in the classical tradition. During her time in school, she appeared in productions such as “The Magic Flute” and “La Bohème,” playing roles such as Sarastro and Colline. The social music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia has a chapter on Bertin’s college campus called Rho Kappa, and Bertin is a member of that chapter. On February 28, 2018, Monét X Change uploaded a cover of “Strange Fruit” by Billie Holiday along with a video to YouTube. The original song was performed by Holiday. On May 25, 2018, the same day as her elimination episode on Drag Race, she released her first original single titled “Soak It Up.” The official music video for the song, which stars Bob the Drag Queen as well as Monique Heart, another contestant from season ten and from All Stars 4, has received more than one million views. She released a teaser for her debut extended play (EP), titled Unapologetically, on February 14, 2019, along with the pre-order link and the lead single, titled “There for You.” On February 22, 2019, the complete EP along with the visual album that accompanied it was made available.
