Kim Novak is an American former actor, noted for his famous performance in the classic movie ‘Vertigo’ by Alfred Hitchcock. Scouted by Harry Cohn, the leader of “Columbia Pictures,” the next Rita Hayworth or Marilyn Monroe was planned. However, Novak, who is robust and open-minded, refuses to be labelled as a sex symbol. as a worker in the plant. After ‘Columbia Pictures’ scouted her, Novak went from modelling to acting as she auditioned for ‘extra’ in two ‘RKO’ films.

In a biography called ‘The Eddy Duchin Story,’ Novak was cast to play the real-life pianist Eddy Duchin’s wife, Marjorie Oelrichs (alongside Tyrone Power as Duchin). The two didn’t get along on the sets with each other. Therefore, Novak nearly left the project. At the last time, though, she changed her mind. The great success of the film was primarily ascribed to her TV ad for ‘No-Cal’ diet soda. Her next effort, ‘Jeanne Eagels’ (1957), was another biopic of Jeanne Eagels’ heroine-addicted ‘Broadway’ star.

In front of Jeff Chandler, Novak performed the leading role. In contrast to the last biopic, negative critiques were received. The family of Jeanne even sued the makers for the way they were represented in the film. In the 1957 musical adaption of ‘Pal Joey,’ Novak (as ‘Linda English’) shared the screenplay space with Rita Hayworth and (again) with Sinatra. Although the picture was a triumph in the box office, the performance of Novak was subject to varied reviews. She nevertheless managed to maintain her stardom, leading to the publication of her next masterpiece, the psychological noir drama ‘Vertigo,’ by Alfred Hitchcock.

Novak (along with James Stewart) was overcome by the fact that she could relate to the role. She was going through a terrible moment, however, when she was striking and requesting a wage rise. She then changed her new contract and obtained a wage increase. After that, Novak started shooting for ‘Vertigo.’ Hitchcock invited her to contribute several creativity to the film. Although the movie initially opened up to mixed reviews, it was a cult classic with time. It is today considered one of the best works of Hitchcock.

Novak was warmly welcomed in her double role (as ‘Judy Barton’ and ‘Madeleine Elster’), but herself was not thrilled with her performance. On the screen again, in the box-office blockbuster ‘Technicolor’ the Novak-Stewart pairing was seen with ‘Bell, Book and Candle’ (1958). Novak was shown as ‘Gillian’ Holroyd’ and ‘Shepherd’ Henderson’ by Stewart. Her next endeavour, the famous Middle of the Night drama picture (1959), is one of her favourite films. Her performance in the film (as ‘Betty Preisser’) is one of her greatest. In her then-fiance, Richard Quine’s love movie ‘Strangers When We Meet’ (1960), she co-starred with Kirk Douglas. Her last film, The Notorious Landlord (1962), was the British comedy in whom she portrayed the ‘Carlyle “Carly” Hardwicke landlady.

Although his house was rescued in the 1961 Bel Air fire, Novak sustained a substantial financial loss. She chose, however, to start manufacturing later. Novak inked an independent agreement for five projects with producer Martin Ransohoff and ‘Film Pictures.’ The team’s first effort was ‘Boys’ Night Out’ in 1962, a romantic comedy that included her in ‘Cathy’s’ part. In the box office, the film crashed. After that, the contract had to be dissolved, since Novak and the other participants finally left because of conflicts connected to creative input. She starred in the sex comedy of Kiss Me, Stupid after the catastrophe of British version of W.

Somerset Maugham’s drama “Of Human Bondage” (1964). ‘Kiss Me, Stupid’ was a commercial triumph, but Novak (as ‘Polly’ a “Pistol”) was attacked strongly for its performance.Novak then starred in the historical comedy ‘The Amorous Adventures of Moll Flanders’ as ‘Moll Flanders.’ The film had a minor success in the box office. The next year was hard for her. She lost her home in a mudslide within a year and had been divorced. It wasn’t too a fantastic year for her on the front as an injury replaced her in the mysterious film ‘Eye of the Devil.’ Novak wished to leave Hollywood by the end of the year.

After a space of 4 years, Novak came back with many TV movies. Then Novak was also part of a few failed movies that played fairly brief roles in several of them. Some of these movies have been ‘ABC’ movies: ‘Satan’s Triangle,’ ‘The White Buffalo’ (1977). (1979). Her sole somewhat successful endeavour was a ‘Mirror Crack’d (as ‘Lola Brewster’) British mystery thriller in the 1980s. It was her sole film of the decade. She rejected the proposal to participate during its memoirs tentatively titled ‘Through My Eyes’ in the next season. The final prominent part of Novak in the 1990 British and German drama ‘The Children’ was that of ‘Rose Sellers.’ The film got decent reviews. Her last film was the ‘Lillian Anderson Munnsen’ finally ill in the 1991 thriller ‘Liebestraum.’

Novak had a hard time filming the thriller, reportedly because of her continuous conflicts with director Mike Figgis. She was listed in 1995 in the “100 sexiest stars in film history” compiled by the magazine ‘Empire.’ During the production of ‘Liebestraum,’ her poor experience led her to reject an offer from French director Claude Berri. The restoration of “Bell, Book and Candle” was also discussed, but the project never materialised. Therefore, Novak decided to quit her gruelling Hollywood trip and retire. She performed her paintings solo at the ‘Butler Art Institute’ in 2014 and the following year she showed her paintings at the ‘Strahov Monastery.’
