Robert Frederick Paulsen III (born March 11, 1956) Known for his roles in a variety of animated television series and films,  is an American voice actor and voice director. As a result of his performance as Pinky, he was honored with a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program as well as three Annie Awards. Rob Paulsen was born on March 11th, 1956 in the city of Detroit, in the state of Michigan. the son of Bob and Lee Paulsen,  the Paulsens. His childhood was spent in Grand Blanc, Michigan and he received his high school diploma from Grand Blanc High School in the year 1974.

His childhood hero was the ice hockey player Gordie Howe, and he considered a career in the arts to be a secondary choice due to his primary interest in playing in the National Hockey League (NHL). He sang in choirs throughout his childhood and adolescence, and he started performing in plays in school. Despite this, he considered the arts to be a secondary career choice.  To his father’s chagrin, he only spent a short time studying at the University of Michigan–Flint before deciding to abandon his academic pursuits and relocate to Los Angeles in 1978 in order to launch a career in the entertainment industry. Before he decided to pursue voice acting as a career full-time, he began his career as a musician.

BIOGRAPHY:

In the 1983 animated miniseries G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, Paulsen played the roles of Snow Job and Tripwire. This was his first role in the voice acting industry. A few years later, his career took off, and he went on to play roles such as the Cobra Slavemaster on G.I. Joe and reprise the roles of Snow Job and “Tripwire.” He also voiced Corky on The Snorks, Marco Smurf in later seasons of The Smurfs, “Boober” on the animated version of Fraggle Rock, Hadji in The New Adventures of Jonny Quest, and Saber Rider and the villain Jesse BlueIn the 1980s, Paulsen also made

some forays into the world of live-action filmmaking. Eyes of Fire, which was released in 1983, was his debut film. Body Double, Stewardess School, Warlock, and Mutant on the Bounty were all films in which he appeared in supporting roles. During this time, he also made guest appearances on a number of television shows, including MacGyver and St. Elsewhere. Paulsen also became more widely known in the field of advertising during this time period. In the 1980s, he had a recurring role as the announcer on the television sitcom Cheers, and he continued to find work in the same capacity.

He was the announcer for Buffalo Dick’s Radio Ranch, the voice of Mr. Opportunity, the spokesman for Honda commercials that aired on television and radio, and he was the spokesman for Lucky Stores, a grocery store chain that was located on the West Coast before it was purchased by Albertsons in 1998. Between the years 1996 and 1997, he was the one who provided the voice of Dog for the Taco Bell kid’s meal commercials, while Eddie Deezen was the one who provided the voice of Nacho the cat. Despite this, Paulsen’s most well-known advertising role was the one he played in the first commercial for the Got Milk? the campaign, which is still running today.

Paulsen provided the voice of Raphael, along with a number of supporting characters, in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, which aired from 1987 until 1995. The series, which had its beginnings as a miniseries comprised of five parts, went on to run for ten seasons and a total of 193 episodes.

It was a smash hit, and almost immediately it became ingrained in popular culture. Paulsen has mentioned that Raphael’s voice is extremely close to what he would use in real life. He made his return to the franchise in the role of Donatello for the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series that aired on Nickelodeon. The series aired for a total of five seasons and 124 episodes, beginning on September 29, 2012, and concluding on November 12, 2017. Additionally, he reprised his role as Raphael from 1987 in the multiple crossover episodes that took place between 1987 and 2012.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the second series based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, and it debuted in July 2018. Paulsen is the voice director for the series. Paulsen continued to co-star in animated series all throughout the early 1990s. This gave him the opportunity to branch out further into radio and television announcements, and he eventually eliminated live-action acting from his repertoire. After providing the voice of “Antoine D’Coolette” in ABC’s series Sonic the Hedgehog in 1993, he went on to provide the voice of “Arthur,” an insecure accountant who wore a moth costume with wings in the superhero series The Tick in 1995. He took over the role of Arthur from Micky Dolenz, who had originally played the role.

Mighty Max and The Mask were both released that same year, 1993, with him playing the lead role in each. Also during this time, he played Yakko Warner on Animaniacs, which would go on to become one of the most well-known roles of his career. Paulsen also provided the voice of Pinky for both Animaniacs and its spin-off Pinky and the Brain, a show for which he was nominated for multiple Annie Awards and won a Daytime Emmy in 1999. In addition, he provided the voice for a number of characters in Tiny Toon Adventures, such as “Fowlmouth,” “Arnold the Pit Bull,” and “Concord Condor.” He provided the voices for the characters Banjo Possum, Mr. Hitcher (who would also appear in other episodes), and Johnny Pew in the Tiny Toon Adventures movie How I Spent My Vacation, which was released exclusively on home video.
