Comedian Andy Dick won over personal tragedy, drug addiction, and alcohol addiction to become one of the unforgettable and unique jokesters in Hollywood. Dick is the adopted son of late Allen and Sue Dick, born in Charleston, SC on December 21, 1965.
Dick and his brood were living in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, and Yugoslavia before settling in Illinois, where his father, the officer of a nuclear submarine, went all over the World with him. Dick learned there, at the Joliet West High School, how to get people to laugh.
He began to strengthen his comedic capabilities by performing his freshman act on a spontaneous basis and finally won the Homecoming King Race by saying, “Don’t vote a jock, vote for A. He studied enhancement with Del Close and was in several commercials at the famous Second City of Chicago and the ImprovOlympics.
Each night of the week at the beginning of his twenties Dick was up and improved, yet he still worked varied days in support of his then-wife Ivonne and little kid. Before leaving Chicago for Los Angeles in 1988, Dick worked as a delivery guy, waiter, and tour guide.
Dick’s agent dropped him when he came and the comedian could not find a new one. It wasn’t an immediate success. One year later, he and Ivonne split. Dick continued to sing at cafes and open-mixed nights when the film Elvis Stories featured in the Ben Stiller (he met in Chicago) film (1989).
Three years later, on Fox’s, The Ben Stiller Show Stiller Dick gave his big break. Confronted with Stiller, Janeane Garofalo, and Bob Odenkirk, Dick devised the Emmy-winning but short-living sketch comedy program with the iconic characters of Manson Lassie and Skank.
Before making a cameo in Stiller’s first feature film, Reality Bites (1994), Dick continued to guest host Talk Soupe and appeared on The nanny, and stole the Pauly shores vehicle from its star. In the Army Now (1994). Meanwhile, Dick met Lena Sved, a romantic artist with whom he had both his son and his daughter.
In 1995, Dick performed on Fox’s unsuccessful Get Smart remake the son of agents 86 and 99. He had a much better chance in that same year than NBC NewsRadio’s inexperienced, confused cub reporter Matthew Brock. The sitcom was a major breakdown, making Dick a popular tabloid.
He starred in the independent Bongwater in 198 between NewsRadio breaks and in the Permanent Midnight in Stiller (1998) alongside and in The Lion King II lent his voice to villain Nuka: Simba’s Pride (1998).

Dick, meanwhile, made rapid headlines of his regular use and use of marijuana, as well as the one-of-a-kind living: his first wife, Ivonne, their kid, and their buddy Dick and Sved were in a house with their two children. For some time, this unconventional way of life was more or less working. But suddenly, Dick started sounding danger bells.
It started in December 1997 when comedian Chris Ferley, his alcoholic sponsor and buddy from Chicago, passed away from a heroin overdose. Then Dick went into a rehabilitation clinic following a terrible drogue phone call to The Howard Stern Show when he explained his addiction to drugs and revealed his bisexuality.
Dick’s NewsRadio costar and substitute dad Phil Hartman was murdered by his wife in a murder-suicide shortly after his release. Dick’s buddy and mentor Del Close died a year later. The next day, the evidently embraced Dick during a meeting of The Ben Stiller by Stiller and Garofalo, at the U.S. comedy arts festival in Aspen, CO., stunned the crowd.
A few weeks later, in Vegas, he went to a bar with actor David Strickland, who later on the same night sadly died. NewsSpain, which cannot recover from Phil Hartman’s death, was canceled by NBC. Dick smashed down a Hollywood streetlight in the footsteps of the previous episode of the show and then ran away from the scene, full of drug paraphernalia.
He was sentenced to weeks of rehab for the night in jail. Dick came back with an amazing recovery later that year. He acted as a romantic rival to David Spade on Just Shoot Me and he performed in Being John Malkovich as himself (1999). Andy Dick’s Circus of Freaks and his cartoons Hey Arnold, Dilbert, and Hill King, he toured with his rock opera.
Dick was in the Road Trip (2000), in Loser (2000), and in Dude, in various independent photographs and unforgettable movies, Where’s My Car? (2000). He also met Maura Tierney for Sammy, Spade’s prime-time cartoon series before anchoring the Christmas film Family Channel Special Delivery (2000).
Then Tierney took him to her husband’s debut director, Billy Morrissette, Scotland, PA (2001). In 2001, when MTV had him develop, direct and appear in The Andy Dick Show, Dick’s biggest coup arrived. The show has been one of the network’s most prestigious events and drew numerous famous guest stars with characters such as Daphne Aguilera (the mother’s friend of Christina’s living on the same block) as well as Zitty McGee (the acne-infested supermodel want tobe).
Rolling Stone called The Andy Dick Show “the funniest thing on television” with the title “The Little Angel Clown Who… That Cree,” which opened with a story like E! True Hollywood of the life of Dick. Dick spoke Mambo in the director’s works of Paul J.
