Adam Paul Scott is an American actor, comedian, and producer. He was born on April 3, 1973, in the United States. His performance as Ben Wyatt in the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation earned him two nominations for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. As a result of his work on the show, he has gained widespread recognition. In addition, he has played the roles of Derek Huff in the movie Step Brothers, Johnny Meyer in the movie The Aviator, Henry Pollard in the sitcom Party Down on Starz, Ed Mackenzie in the television series Big Little Lies on HBO, and Trevor in the television series The Good Place on NBC.
In 2022, he began starring in the psychological drama series Severance, which was broadcast on Apple TV+. For his work in the series, which earned him a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, he was given the award. Scott was born in Santa Cruz, California, to his parents, Anne (née Quartararo) and Simon Dougald Scott, who both worked as educators before retiring. He is the youngest of three children; his older siblings are Shannon and David. He received his diploma from Harbor High School in Los Angeles, California, as well as from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts there. Scott has made appearances in a number of full-length motion pictures, some of which include Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996), Star Trek: First Contact (1996), The Lesser Evil (1998), High Crimes (2002), The Aviator (2004), Torque (2004), Monster-in-Law (2005), Who Loves the Sun (2006), Knocked Up (2007), Step Brothers (2008), August (2008), Piranha 3D (2010), and Leap Year (2010).
In one of the broadcast’s credits, the name Scott appears next to the name of Jon Hamm, who plays the role of Brick Tamland in the film Anchorman. On April 21, 2011, during an appearance on the program Attack of the Show! on G4, he confirmed that this was due to his and Hamm’s friendship with producer Shauna Robertson, who put their names in the credits as an Easter egg. Robertson did this as a way to thank them for their friendship. In the remake of “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” which was released in 2013, he had the role of Ted Hendricks, Walter Mitty’s despicable corporate boss.
In the film Our Idiot Brother (2011), Scott played the role of Jeremy[, and he also appeared in the film Bachelorette. In the television series Friends with Kids, he also played the role of Jason Fryman (2012). In contrast to his previous comedic endeavors, he played the dramatic role of Caleb Sinclaire in the film The Vicious Kind, which was released in 2010, and for this role, Scott was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in the category of Best Actor. The film as a whole was met with favorable reviews, and the actor ended up winning two individual awards at two different film festivals. He played a leading role in the movie Passenger Side, which was made available on DVD on October 26, 2010.
The first showing of Scott’s film A.C.O.D. took place at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013. In 2015, he co-starred in the Christmas comedy slasher film Krampus and worked as an executive producer on the comedy film The Overnight, in which he also played the role of Alex. The Overnight was released that year. In 2005, Scott tied the knot with Naomi Sablan. They are parents to two little ones. Scott describes himself as a devoted follower of the band R.E.M.
It was in 1992 when he made an appearance as a background performer in the music video for their song “Drive.” During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Scott disclosed that he had invited the actor Mark Hamill to one of his birthday parties when he was a child. In honor of Star Wars Day, guest host Kristen Bell conspired to throw Scott off guard by arranging for Mark Hamill to make an appearance while wielding a lightsaber.
